Welcome to the Fourth edition of the Visioneer JOURNAL!!!!!
The Visioneer Journal
Ancient Wisdom. Modern Life. Clear Thinking.
A Note to the Visioneers
Hello Visioneers,
Lately on NewVision OldWays we’ve been exploring something that shapes every civilization — and every individual life.
Decay… and renewal.
In recent episodes we’ve looked at how individuals, cultures, and even nations can slowly lose their direction. Not through dramatic collapse, but through something much more subtle: the gradual erosion of independent thinking, courage, and personal responsibility.
But there’s another side to that story. Human beings also possess something extraordinary — the ability to wake up again.
To rebuild.
To challenge themselves.
To reclaim their independence of thought.
From Ancient Greece’s questioning spirit, to Rome’s discipline and structure, to the strategic wisdom of thinkers like Sun Tzu, the same truth echoes across time: Strength begins in the individual mind.
When individuals rediscover courage, clarity, and responsibility, societies often follow. That is what NewVision OldWays is really about.
Not nostalgia. Not politics. But rediscovering the timeless ideas that allow human beings to thrive. And I’m grateful every one of you Visioneers are walking this path with me.
I do not do this for any sort of Fame or Recognition, I do this for US. The Ones that want to live a better life. Not one manipulated by fear, agenda media, manufactured rage and by those weak minded – group think tag along’s. We can bring ourselves to knew heights – but we have to have the courage to move forward, when so many others are regressing backwards. Decay will not happen to those who value life as I do. So stay focused – keep moving forward and never give up!!
When Celebrities Pretend to Be Philosophers
Every year, award shows deliver the same spectacle.
Actors and entertainers who earn millions portraying fictional characters step onto a stage and suddenly present themselves as moral authorities on politics, culture, and how the rest of society should live. …. Although, none of us would have ever known that Rape, Racism, and Sexual Harassment were wrong if it wasn’t for those dimwits !! I mean – we are just stupid commoners – THEY have assistants helping to guide their every ignorant word !! so they know “Stuff”
The problem isn’t that they have opinions. Everyone has opinions. The problem is the breathtaking lack of self-awareness that often accompanies them.
When someone who travels by private jet lectures ordinary people about sacrifice… When someone surrounded by luxury speaks about the struggles of the “common person”… When someone whose entire career is built on pretending to be other people suddenly claims deep insight into how the world should function…
It stops sounding thoughtful. It starts sounding ridiculous. These moments reveal something deeper about our culture.
For too long, “celebrity” has been confused with wisdom. But fame is not wisdom. Being photographed on a red carpet does not make someone a philosopher.
And delivering rehearsed moral slogans between commercial breaks does not make someone a leader.
In fact, the louder the virtue signaling becomes, the more it exposes the cultural vacuum behind it. Real wisdom rarely arrives in designer gowns under stage lighting. It arrives quietly — through study, experience, reflection, and the willingness to question one’s own beliefs.
That is why the ideas we explore on NewVision OldWays often come from places far removed from Hollywood stages: Ancient philosophy, History, Personal responsibility, The disciplines that actually shape strong individuals.
Because civilization is not guided by celebrities delivering speeches.
It is guided by individuals who choose to think for themselves. Imagine that, thinking for yourself !!! Hmmmmm – crazy thought – but it might just work !!
Visioneer Quote of the Week
“Waste no more time arguing what a good man should be. Be one.” — Marcus Aurelius
Sometimes philosophy doesn’t need to be complicated.
Sometimes the entire blueprint for a better life can fit inside a single sentence.
What I’m Reading
Lately I’ve been revisiting books that examine the long arc of civilization — how cultures rise, flourish, decline, and sometimes rediscover themselves again.
One theme appears over and over:
Civilizations rarely collapse overnight.
Instead, decline usually begins when individuals stop questioning, stop learning, and stop challenging themselves.
Which is why the most powerful form of renewal is always personal renewal.
That’s something we continue to explore on the podcast every week.
So – My Picks for the week are:
1) The Hidden Messages in Water – by Masaru Emoto: This little book will open your mind to new possibilities, to deeper spirituality and God.
2) The Art of Peace – by Philip Dunn: This book is the modern Re-Write to The Art of War by Sun Tzu. It will shed light on what it means to lead in times of personal and cultural conflicts.
3) The Cave and the Light – by Arthur Herman: The book that guided most of season 6. Plato vs Aristotle and the Struggle for the Soul of Western Civilization. Worth the read.

Visioneer Music & Culture
The New Elvis Presley Film: Epic
I recently caught the new Elvis Presley film Epic, and it reminded many just how revolutionary Elvis really was. This film focuses not just on Elvis the icon, but Elvis the artist — the moment when gospel, blues, country, and rock collided to create something entirely new.
Elvis wasn’t simply a performer. He was a cultural earthquake. He helped usher in one of – if not the most incredible cultural shift that America has ever seen. As John Lennon put it – Before Elvis, There was nothing.
The film captures the tension he lived with — caught between tradition and rebellion, criticism and adoration, expectation and artistic instinct. And in many ways, that creative courage is exactly what we talk about on NewVision OldWays.
Sometimes progress comes from questioning the system. Sometimes it comes from plugging in a guitar and refusing to play by the old rules.
The Soundtrack for the movie has some very interesting Remixes, unheard versions of the classics and – if you want proof this Cat could sing – check out his version of Oh Happy Day – stunning vocal power and range. If you need reminding why Elvis was the greatest, watch and listen. It becomes pretty obvious!! – no auto correct mics here, just good old fashion talent.
Some people wish they had it – Well Elvis – Had ALL OF IT !!
The Visioneer Mindset
As this season continues, we’ve been exploring questions that matter deeply in modern life:
• What causes individuals to decline? • Why do societies sometimes lose their confidence? • How do people regain intellectual independence?
The answer begins with a simple but powerful idea:
Challenge yourself.
Read something difficult.
Learn something new.
Ask a question others are afraid to ask.
Growth never comes from comfort.
Every Visioneer understands that.
Coming Up Next on NewVision OldWays
In the next episode we continue exploring one of the most important struggles in human history:
The battle between conformity and independent thinking.
From ancient philosophers to modern culture, the same tension continues.
And the outcome often determines the direction of entire societies.
